Great Expectations (And Chocolate Currency)

We all have expectations... Of our friends, family, lecturers, shop assistants, even that boy-who-should-spit-his-gum-in-the-bin-but-will-probably-spit-it-on-the-ground. However, no expectation is or will ever be as great as the expectation we have of ourselves.

I'm always thinking up scenarios in my head. Scenarios that I think are life-like - and thus going to happen - but are really just pieces of my imagination playing with me. You know? We all think of them: Meeting the Perfect (yes, capitol 'P') boy, getting paid excessive amounts of money to do nothing.. etc. But why is it that right after crashing back into reality, we long to go back. To go back to the world where you left the house without a care for anything, where responsibilities disappeared, where there was no crime, where "I was eating chocolate..." is a legitimate excuse to have not done homework or assignments.

It's true, the "Real World" may not be as exciting as "Imaginary World". In fact, in my personal "Imaginary World" I'd be broke as our currency would be in the form of chocolate and, well, if you knew me well enough I shouldn't need to further explain myself. But it's time that I come down from my cloud because if there is one piece of advice I'll live by for the rest of my life it's this:

Life is NOT a fairytale.

And that gets me through everyday. Because when we doubt ourselves and give up, that's when we need to snap back into reality. One day, we will realise that what we have achieved is something to be proud of. One day our dreams and wishes will come true. One day I hope to meet some of my inspirations (I have to call them inspirations because the list started to get a bit excessive and suddenly everyone was 'My Idol'.) . And when this day comes we will look back and know that we have achieved a greatness that our Imagination could not give us. We will have the sense of accomplishment to have worked so, so hard to get to where we are. And to me, that's all that matters.

Nothing gets handed to you on a silver platter.
Unless you're the Queen, which you aren't.
So get studying.
-Me.

For your information:
My List of Inspirations (Thus Far):
Julie Andrews
Verity Hunt-Ballard - Saw her perform, didn't get to meet her :(
Gigi Edgley - WANT TO MEET
Colin Firth
The Dog from The Artist
Simon Burke - Met him
Debra Messing
... and the list goes on!

So tell me, if you like, what is your greatest expectation of yourself? Or perhaps, Who is your idol/inspiration?

Ciao!!
